Fight erupts at Cape Coral baseball game – NBC2 News

A brawl broke out on a baseball field in Cape Coral, except it wasnt kids squabbling. Grown men got into it and got the police involved.

On Sunday around noon, Cape Coral police broke up a fight between two men’s league teams at a Sports Complex baseball field.

It all started when one man hit a home run, then accused someone on the opposing team of spitting in his face.

“It happens because people get heated with each other and they’ll just want to fight. I don’t think its a good idea to just get into a full-out brawl at a recreational place like this full of kids,” Steven Rector said.

A man on the Blue Jays team told officers he hit a home run and was rounding third base when an opposing player spit on him.

They pushed and shoved one another, then teammates from both sides started fighting.

When the dust settled, no one wanted to press charges, but the fact that the fight happened still upsets families who play at the park.

“Shake hands and just be good sports instead of having an all-out brawl with each other in the middle of the field,” Rector said.

NBC2 reached out and left messages with several of the men the police officers questioned in their report, but they did not answer or weren’t willing to talk.

No one was seriously hurt in the fight.
